Breastfeeding moms may want to hold off on trying a low carb diet.
Although I was never able to breastfeed because I was prescribed medications for my hypertension immediately after both of my pregnancies, I realize that there are mothers out there that are breastfeeding. Before they should start any diet plan, they should first consult their physician about what may or not be safe for them and [...]
To exercise or not exercise…that is the question.
It seems like everybody in our household is currently sick…not to mention I am still recovering from the double gainer over my handlebars. I don’t know if my chest and back hurt from pounding the pavement or from coughing up a lung. So now back to the age old debate…if I feel sick should I [...]
Addicted to fatty food?
An article, “Fatty foods may cause cocaine-like addiction,” was just published by CNN Health claiming it very may be possible. From the article: Scientists have finally confirmed what the rest of us have suspected for years: Bacon, cheesecake, and other delicious yet fattening foods may be addictive. A new study in rats suggests that high-fat, [...]
Calories that don't count.
Yesterday afternoon I was cycling on the beautiful hike and bike path that runs through our neighborhood. A note to postpartum moms.
It’s a Saturday…no different than any other….or is it? M.J. is sitting at the kitchen table eating Frosted Flakes while watching some psychedelic children show on Noggin. E.M. is upstairs brooding over something that could only trouble the mind of a nine year old girl. And the hubby is in his office finishing up some [...]

Having lost a good deal of weight and then accomplishing a rather shocking body recomposition (meaning that I have put on muscle but kept off the fat), I am frequently asked what my diet looks like. I cannot tell you how many people are dumbfounded when I suggest to them that they may be able [...]
Ooey gooey meatballs!
Who says low carb can’t be delicious! I just made 4 large meatballs with about a quarter cup of marinara sauce, and a quarter cup of mozzarella. I nuked it for a few minutes and I ended up with a big plate of heaven for around 16 net carbs.
Meds and weight gain.
What I have yet to write about (and I’m really ashamed that I haven’t because I think this is one of the biggest sources of extra anxiety and depression for new mothers who are already dealing with a host of other problems) is about medication and weight gain. Notably, this is one of those things [...]
Hydroxycut
Okay…I have finally decided that my willpower is not enough and I may need a little extra boost. I discovered this today when E.M. decided to nuke some Dulce De Leche Girl Scout cookies and I caved…in a big way. So here I go giving Hydroxycut a shot. I have taken it before and it [...]
